"I can't even"

Working from home, lockdown, limited supplies, home schooling the kids, family and friends as Key Workers... these are major trials and challenges we are all currently facing. How could we prepare for times like these?! Adding to that with job searching and/or changing jobs, may seem too much and tipping the (already maxed out) balance. We're here to tell you it's going to be okay, we're here and will help you.

If you are having moments in your day thinking, "I can't even...", you're not alone. Yes, with the boom of technology over the years we're in a good position to work from home, carry out telephone or video interviews, keep in touch with family and friends over more than ever before, as well as use the internet for interview research however, there is also an important realisation and acceptance that for a large number of people, it's a tricky transition into the "new normal" and it takes time to adapt. You know what... that's okay!

So, rather than thinking about what you "can't even" think/do/be, it's important to keep vision and focus empowered and changing thoughts to "I can". For those who like a plan (we do!), it really helps with structuring your day and thoughts; it's a powerful way to stay positive during times which seem so uncertain.

Here are few ideas for you to consider:

1. Strengthen your connections - spend time with family, have the conversations you "never have time" to carry out, call your friends

2. Identify a Positive - in any position or situation, there is a positive if you look hard enough for it.

3. Have an Attitude of Gratitude - the one thing we can control is how we react. Gratitude is so important as it grounds us and makes us present. It's brilliant for our mental health too. Remember, to be kind to yourself.

4. Savour the Small Wins - the smell of fresh coffee, the sunshine, the kids all playing nicely, the family sharing stories

At some point, hopefully in the not too distant future, the working world will start to resume to a level of familiarity - we will be able to go to our offices, go to interviews face to face, and grab a coffee meeting in Starbucks, meet colleagues in person (hurrah!). Until then, Cameo is here to talk and share your job search journey with you. When you're ready to look for a job, or if you have questions about preparing your CV, or you would like us to help prep you for interview, we're here - call us. Let's change your "I can't even" into "I can even", as together, anything is possible!
